Revisiting hometown with a bulky camera

During the summer holiday of 2022, I went back to by hometown Shuozhou, Shanxi with my newly bought Mamiya Universal - a large metal box capable of producing huge 6x9 negatives. My great grandmother’s house has been closed to visitors ever since her passing, so I took the opportunity to get inside it and got some photographs.

Considering its weight, using the Mamiya requires always carrying a tripod with it in order to produce clear pictures. The full mechanical nature of the camera also helped me to slow down the pace of shooting and carefully adjust the composition and exposure before each shutter release.
